Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment, with the structure and function of the body at its core. Osteopaths strive to restore your body to a state of balance and ease allowing and encouraging the body to self-heal. Osteopaths wholeheartedly believe that the body in all its entirety is constantly striving towards expressing optimum health. It’s the Osteopath’s job to support this.
Osteopathy is a gentle manual practice using skilled palpation to assess and translate the way in which the tissues of the body move, resulting in a diagnosis and treatment plan. Techniques used aim to restore muscle function, as well as improve flexibility and joint movement.
One of the main principles that underpins osteopathy is that structure (the anatomy of the body) is intrinsically linked to function (the physiology of the body). If the body is in a state of ease and balance, then optimum physiological health will follow.
For our very young patients. cranial techniques are used to treat babies and children, as these are some of the most gentle and subtle forms of treatment. Babies as young as a few days old can be treated and Chloe frequently carries out new baby check ups.
The birth process can be one of the most stressful events of a baby’s life. They are subject to extreme forces as the uterus pushes to expel the baby against the natural resistance of the birth canal. Often the stresses and strains sustained at birth can remain unresolved resulting in the baby needing to adapt and accommodate as they grow. This adaptation can manifest in an uncomfortable or irritable baby and can even affect things like sleeping, feeding and digestion.
